- Immigrant entrepreneurs founded 25% of tech, engineering startups in MD since 2006 [Report] (via Technically Baltimore) – Maryland is “one of seven states where immigrants founded more than 24 percent of … technology businesses,” according to Capital News Service.
- George Mason University professors launch free online courses (via the Washington Business Journal) – George Mason University economists Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarrok have launched a free online education platform called Marginal Revolution University, The Washington Post reports. The site will host several massive open online courses, though the university is not accredited and it doesn't award degrees of any sort.
- Approximately 200 to Compete in DC Week Hackathon (via Beltway Startups) – DCWeek, a whole week festival in the US focused on gathering the top designers,technopreneurs, developers, programmers and I.T. innovators has announced that there will be approximately 200 participants for this year’s hackathon at the Chevy Chase.
- Mobile app aims to grow business in Virginia (via News & Advance) – Virginia economic development officials have launched a mobile app to help bring business to the state. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership says the ”YesVA” app is a new, innovative tool aimed at bringing jobs and investments to Virginia.
- Georgetown undergrads’ business voted D.C.’s ‘Hottest Start-up’ (via Washington Post) – Georgetown senior James Li’s team was among the youngest of the 25 start-ups competing to be “D.C.’s Hottest Start-up” on Thursday night in Arlington’s Artisphere.
- Howard Places Second in National Supply Chain Competition (via Howard University) – A team of Howard University students took second place in the General Motors/Wayne State University School of Business Administration Supply Chain Case Competition in Detroit.
- Washington, DC Food Trucks Fear New Rules Could Ruin Business [VIDEO] (9 News Now) – New regulations from Washington DC Food Truck Regulations could ruin businesses.
