What’s your favorite CEO hack you use weekly?

Running a business often means balancing leadership, operations, growth, and decision-making all at once. That’s why finding effective CEO hacks for entrepreneurs can make such a noticeable difference in how a business operates week after week. Sometimes it’s a simple habit, a reliable system, or a tool that creates more clarity, saves time, and helps business owners focus on what matters most.

26 Entrepreneurs share their favorite CEO hacks they use weekly

I asked entrepreneurs and business owners their favorite CEO hack that they use weekly, and the responses revealed practical strategies that help leaders stay organized, reduce overwhelm, improve productivity, and create more sustainable growth. From delegation systems to mindset habits, these are the weekly practices business owners continue to rely on.

CEO Myths Debunked: What Leaders Got Wrong About the Role

1. CRM audit

My weekly CRM audit. It sounds unsexy, but in real estate, your database is your business. Every week, I carve out time to review where every client and prospect stands, because behind every house is a person with real needs, real timelines, and real trust placed in me. Letting leads fall through the cracks isn't just a missed commission; it's a broken relationship. After over a decade building our team in Nashville and 700+ homes sold, I can tell you the secret isn't always chasing new leads; it's staying genuinely connected to the people already in your world.

Thanks to Matt Ward, The Matt Ward Group!

2. 30-minute planning session

My favorite CEO hack is protecting Sunday nights for a 30-minute planning session. I map out my entire week by blocking specific time for work that moves the needle, like strategic conversations and reviewing retention numbers. When Monday starts, I already know what I’m doing and why, no decision fatigue or scrambling. Using my calendar as a structured system ensures consistency, clarity, and focus, turning simple weekly planning into a long-term competitive advantage.

Thanks to Ben Davis, The Gents Place!

3. First 60 minutes priority focus

The hack that changed everything for me is protecting my first 60 minutes every morning; no email, no phone, just reviewing my top three priorities. Running a high-volume real estate team means constant noise, and, unintentionally, the urgent overtakes the important. That quiet hour helps me think strategically, map who needs attention, and guide my team clearly. It keeps me leading the business instead of reacting, bringing focus, clarity, and better decision-making every day.

Thanks to Jimmy Welch, The Jimmy Welch Team!

4. Deep work blocks

The habit that's made the biggest difference for me is “deep work blocks”, two to three uninterrupted hours, three times a week, focusing on one high-leverage task. No Slack, no email, no meetings. Running a remote-first business, it’s easy to confuse availability with productivity, but they’re not the same. These sessions help me think, write, and refine processes with clarity. Protecting focused time has become my personal edge, improving productivity, decision-making, and overall efficiency.

Thanks to Frederic S., RemoteCorgi!

5. Founder strategy day

My favourite CEO hack is a founder strategy day with two other business owners I trust completely. Each of us shares our strategy for the year ahead, then we go around the table and pull it apart (kindly). Funnels, channels, partnerships, pricing, everything is on the table. It's the kind of feedback you simply can't get from a coach, a team member, or a business book, because it's coming from people who are in it too. You leave feeling clear, accountable, and genuinely set up for success.

Thanks to Tamara Reid, Inside Industry!

6. Objective mindset

My powerful CEO hack, both for myself and when training C-Suite leaders, is not to take things personally. Business can be likened to singing in a choir. While I need to be in tune with the team around the wider community, I am only responsible for my voice. It is a lot easier to stay calm under pressure when you “zoom out” and look at a situation objectively. A new perspective allows you to see the bigger picture and your long-term role with greater clarity.

7. Opportunity Radar

My favorite CEO hack is the Opportunity Radar. It only takes 15 minutes a day, and it helps me quickly identify high-impact business opportunities I might otherwise miss. The tool is simple, intuitive, and immediately actionable – no long setup, no overwhelm. As a business coach, I saw how much this helped my clients, and I’ve now expanded it so any business owner can use it. Over time, it helps users stay focused, reduce decision fatigue, and consistently take meaningful action – turning just a few minutes a day into real business growth.

Thanks to Vered Ohanna, Success Engineering!

8. Game theory thinking

My biggest hack is asking myself a simple question, based on ‘game theory': If we do ‘this', then ‘what' are the most likely outcomes, and is that ok? Our actions impact decisions of competitors, team members, and markets, so taking action with consideration and assessment of the implications can be risky. It doesn't need to be a detailed mathematical model. If you and your team do a quick brainstorm initially, it saves a lot of pain in the future. I find that De Bono's 7 hats is a good framework to use to flesh out potential issues.

Thanks to Megan Doyle, Tic Tac Toe Consulting!

9. Weekly CEO rhythm

My favourite CEO hack isn’t a tool, it’s a rhythm. Every week starts with a Monday check-in where I define the three outcomes that will actually move the business forward. During the week, I run a quick 10-minute daily CEO checkpoint to make sure my time is spent on leadership decisions, not operational noise. Then on Friday, I do a short reflection to review what worked, what didn’t, and what needs adjusting. It sounds simple, but most founders never step out of reaction mode. That weekly rhythm creates clarity, protects the CEO's time, and keeps the business moving in the right direction.

Thanks to Morgan Wilson, Creditte accountants & advisors!

10. Early morning focus habit

A habit I swear by is waking up absurdly early, usually around 4:30am, and protecting the first few hours from any incoming noise. No phone, no Slack, no email. It’s just thinking time, writing, and sometimes walking my dogs before the world wakes up. That quiet block has probably generated more ideas and revenue than any productivity app I’ve ever downloaded. Founders are constantly reacting to things, but the real leverage comes from those silent hours when you can think strategically. I didn’t realise how powerful this was until I stuck with it for months and noticed how much calmer and more deliberate my decisions became.

Thanks to Deepak Shukla, Pearl Lemon Group!

11. Energy-first planning system

One of the most valuable CEO habits I use weekly is an “energy-first planning system.” Most business owners plan their week based on tasks, but I plan mine based on energy and cognitive load. Every Sunday, I review my schedule and assign high-level thinking work to peak energy periods, while lower-cognitive tasks go to slower times. I also include movement and training as non-negotiables. This system has dramatically reduced burnout and improved my leadership and decision-making.

Thanks to Loz Antonenko, Loz Life!

12. Clarity audit

My go-to hack is a weekly 30-minute “clarity audit” every Monday morning. In my world, we’re constantly taking dense, complicated information and making it digestible, so if content or campaigns aren’t crystal clear, they don’t go out. I review what’s in flight, ask “would my neighbor understand this?”, and cut anything that doesn’t pass. After 15+ years in consumer marketing, I’ve learned complexity is the enemy of conversion. Clarity is a habit, and this audit keeps us focused, consistent, and effective every week.

13. Sunday night brain dump

My most useful habit is a Sunday night brain dump. I set a timer for 20 minutes and write down every open loop: tasks, ideas, worries, and reminders that keep popping up. I do it on paper since a legal pad quiets my mind in a way a screen never has. Running multiple businesses, I can’t afford a scattered start to the week. This routine helps me enter Monday with fewer loose ends, more clarity, and better control over priorities and energy.

Thanks to Betsy Pepine, Pepine Realty!

14. Compliance sprint review

My favorite weekly CEO hack is the “Compliance Sprint Review,” a 30-minute Monday ritual where I scan client dashboards and identify the biggest blocker for each engagement. Early on, I was lost in framework details and missed when clients were stuck. Now, this habit is non-negotiable. Over time, I’ve learned projects don’t stall due to complexity but because bottlenecks aren’t flagged early. This focused review keeps me out of the weeds, ensures clarity, and helps my team execute efficiently.

Thanks to Ali Hayat, Axipro Technologies!

15. One-on-One meetings and task tracking system

My weekly leadership life hack is a combination of one-on-one calls and a pinned message with tasks in Telegram. Every Tuesday, I hold short one-on-one meetings to review what was done, where someone got stuck, what they need, and their plans for the next week. After the calls, employees update their plans in a pinned message with key tasks, owners, and completion criteria. The following week starts by reviewing progress, obstacles, and adjustments, creating clarity, accountability, and better team alignment.

Thanks to Alex Zimin, MultiPillow!

16. Monday morning brain dump

My preferred CEO technique is a “Monday Morning Brain Dump,” where I spend 20 minutes inputting all tasks, ideas, and priorities into an AI assistant to create a structured weekly plan. As a business owner handling multiple responsibilities, this system helps me focus on essential work instead of unimportant tasks. It works with a simple content plan, allowing me to stay organized, connect better with my audience, and improve efficiency while keeping costs minimal.

Thanks to Drew Mann, Drew's Review!

17. Leadership journaling

Leadership journaling has become an essential tool to help me run my business. The practice is simple: write down what happened, how you responded, and what you would do differently. When done consistently, it helps you see patterns in your behaviour and organisation. It highlights avoided conversations, delayed decisions, and unresolved team dynamics. For leaders operating at pace, spending ten minutes a day builds clarity, improving decision-making and overall leadership effectiveness.

Thanks to Rachel Fehily, RHF Fans!

18. Short weekly financial and operations review

One of my favorite CEO “hacks” is doing a short weekly financial and operations review every Monday morning. I look at a simple dashboard tracking cash flow, revenue trends, key expenses, and pipeline health. This habit takes less than 30 minutes but helps catch problems early. I also rely on work management tools to track priorities and keep the team aligned. The combination enables faster decisions and keeps focus on what moves the business forward.

Thanks to Gary Jain, The Ledger Labs!

19. Weekly learning habit for leadership growth

My favorite weekly habit is tuning in to our learning community through webinars, podcasts, and conversations among professionals. It keeps me connected to what practitioners are actually facing. After more than three decades of experience, I’ve learned that the best leaders are perpetual learners. Staying close to the audience, their challenges, language, and evolving needs makes me a sharper CEO and more relevant. It’s not just market research; it’s intellectual fuel that strengthens leadership, insight, and long-term effectiveness.

Thanks to Bradford R. Glaser, HRDQ!

20. AI visibility checks

Every Monday, I run a 10-query visibility check across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini using category-relevant questions a potential client would ask. In under 10 minutes, it shows whether my content is generating citations, if competitors are appearing, and whether my content infrastructure is being picked up by the models. Most business owners track traffic and engagement, but neither reveals what AI is saying about your brand. The real hack is treating AI visibility as infrastructure, something you check and maintain weekly.

Thanks to Darlene Killen, The Visible Practitioner!

21. Unified workspace

One small productivity habit that makes a real difference in my week is keeping all of my working documents in one place instead of juggling multiple tools. As a publicist managing clients, media lists, pitches, and strategy notes at the same time, the ability to move quickly between writing, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDFs matters more than people realize. Reducing constant switching cuts small interruptions that add up. When running a business and responding in real time, tools that remove friction create a real competitive advantage.

Thanks to Tracy Lamourie, Lamourie Media!

22. 30-minute data audit

One of my favorite systems is a 30-minute data audit every Monday morning. I review state board updates, competitor pricing, and traffic data from Google Search Console to spot key trends from the previous week. Using a simple checklist, I go through each item while having my coffee before starting work. This routine recently helped me catch a pricing change from a major provider, allowing a timely update. It has improved my site’s credibility and reliability for users.

Thanks to Brennan Kolar, Atlas CPA Index!

23. Sunday evening planning ritual

My biggest CEO hack is a simple Sunday evening planning ritual; no fancy tools, just 20 quiet minutes with a notebook before the week starts. As a father of two, Sunday nights are about shifting from “dad mode” to “founder mode.” I jot down my top three priorities for the week, usually around audience growth, campaign performance, and partnerships, and align them with what our parent community actually needs right now. Building a trusted resource for over 140,000 subscribers means your weekly focus has to serve them, not just the business. That 20-minute reset keeps me grounded, intentional, and clear-headed heading into Monday, no matter how chaotic family life gets the night before.

Thanks to Cory Arsic, Canadian Parent!

24. Non-negotiable review

My go-to weekly habit is a non-negotiable review of our operational data, not just skimming a dashboard. I sit down, ask the right questions, and stress-test what the system is telling us. Leading on technology and finances, I’ve learned the numbers reveal issues before they appear. This habit helps identify inefficiencies, stay ahead of problems, and make faster decisions than competitors. The tool matters less than the discipline, and this weekly review has saved us significant time and money.

Thanks to Stephen Doran, Quickline Logistics!

25. Motion

I run a digital marketing agency with many projects at once, so it’s easy for things to slip through the cracks. I use Motion, an AI virtual assistant for project management that auto-schedules my tasks for the day. If I book something or a call is added, it automatically readjusts my tasks to meet deadlines. This system keeps me organized, ensures nothing is missed, and helps me stay on track with priorities.

Thanks to Nick Brose, TMC Marketing!

26. Monday morning “kill list.”

My weekly CEO hack is a Monday morning “kill list” where I delete half of my tasks before the week starts. Most accumulated tasks are reactive busywork disguised as priorities. Running two companies, I’ve learned the fastest way to lose a week is by treating everything equally. This forces me to focus on the three tasks that move revenue forward, while the rest get delegated, delayed, or dropped. It improves focus, reduces clutter, and drives better growth outcomes.

Thanks to Tim Akdemir, Aslan Intelligence!
