Today, entrepreneur has become an almost mystical appellation applied to those who have struck it rich with an idea or product (usually a high-tech one), made a ton of money, took their company public and gone back to the well for more — finally becoming what are now called “serial entrepreneurs.”
The club of such men and women is small and exclusive, but becoming a member is still a powerful lure for those hoping to ride the coattails of their success by learning their secrets and then applying them in their own situations.
I would offer that for some, the new definition of an entrepreneur has more to do with “getting in and getting out” quickly, and amassing fame and fortune with a minimal investment, than it has to do with going the distance and taking ownership of one’s idea so that it becomes inextricably linked to one’s self.
